About Dr. Christopher K. Jones
Dr. Christopher Jones is an orthopedic surgeon with Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group. He has practiced in Colorado Springs since 2003 and specializes in the treatment of disorders and injuries of the shoulder, knee, and elbow. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and earned the Added Certificate of Qualification for Sports Medicine by the ABOS.
He has a special interest in Total Shoulder Replacement Surgery, as well as advanced arthroscopic techniques, of the knee, shoulder, and elbow. Dr. Jones became interested in Shoulder Replacement as a resident training under Kevin Speer, MD at Duke. The fact that they require exacting techniques in dealing with not only the bone but the soft tissues appealed to him. Further, he loved seeing great outcomes for patients.
Dr. Jones also has a keen interest in Joint Preservation which involves both surgical and non-surgical treatments. Surgical Options include Autologous Cartilage Implantation, allograft meniscal, and cartilage transplantation.
He prides himself in perfecting the most current surgical techniques and treatments in order to give his patients the most state-of-the-art care available. Dr. Jones is also active in education, instructing other surgeons on these procedures.
Dr. Jones’ interest in sports medicine started early in his life as he grew up heavily involved in sports. He grew up in Kingwood, TX where he lettered in baseball, football, and basketball and was a ranked tennis player during his teens. He attended Wake Forest University in North Carolina where he played varsity baseball. Following his undergraduate studies, he went to Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Jones went on to train at Duke University School of Medicine. It was at Duke where he really developed an interest in the shoulder and Sports Medicine, training with some of the country’s leading surgeons and assisting with the care of their sports teams. Following Duke, in order to further refine his skill as a sports medicine surgeon, he chose to spend a year in fellowship at Mississippi Sports Medicine. This fellowship was chosen specifically because its surgeons were some of the leading Shoulder Arthroscopic Surgeons in the world. While in Mississippi, Dr. Jones was the Team Physician for Jackson State University as well as several local high schools and Jackson’s Minor League Hockey Team, The Jackson Bandits.
Since moving to Colorado Springs, Dr. Jones has served as one of the team physicians for The University Colorado at Colorado Springs, Colorado College, as well as The Colorado Springs Sky Sox. He also is proud to be a team physician for Discovery Canyon and The Classical Academy High Schools. As part of the Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group in Colorado Springs, he is part of an excellent team of surgeons.
Dr. Jones is married to Stephanie. They have two children, Tanner and Hunter. The Jones’ are an active family. They spend family time on the mountain ripping through the powder, going for trail runs, mountain biking, playing tennis, and riding motorcycles. Dr. Jones and Stephanie are accomplished triathletes. They have both competed in many Ironman Triathlons including the World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. Therefore, Dr. Jones has a unique perspective when dealing with athletes and active people of ALL ages. His knee-jerk response will not be “do not run”. He utilizes the most cutting-edge treatments to help you get back to what you love.
His goal is to help his patients maintain the active lifestyle that he and his family enjoy. His mantra is to treat his patients as he would want his own family treated. He prides himself on spending time with his patients and assuring they have a thorough understanding of their problems, which is the impetus to build this website.
